Contemporary Romances With Soft , Nerdy Boys/Men

So on Twitter a month back I came across a tweet where someone was asking for YA books with soft nerdy boys and vola I had the idea for my next blog post . This post consists of 8 super cute romance contemporary’s out of which 6 are YA and 2 adult books.

I hope you enjoying reading this post and add them to your TBR . And if you know any books which consist of soft nerdy boys feel free to mention them in the comments cause this is one of my favourite romance trope .

So when it comes to real life I totally understood the charm about bad boys but I have reloaded I actually have a a thing for sweet nerds cause their intelligence and passion for something makes them all the more appealing . And sweetness not just for you but just being a part of their personality is a huge selling point. πŸ’—

1. Always Never Yours

IMG_a6ola7.jpg

This book revolves around Megan who considers herself to have a curse that whoever dumps her finds the love of his life in the next person they date . Along with that her parents divorce and dad marrying too fast with one step-sister and another on the way makes her feel replaceable. Then enters Owen. They slowly become friends. Their passion for arts/drama and Shakespeare uniting them. Owen is one of the sweetest guys I have ever read plus Megan makes him blush a lot which was super swoony to read . He truly understood Megan’s insecurities and was this blanket of support for her.

Aaah. This one was another cutesy read by Kasie West . In this the main girl is an upcoming actress working on her first Hollywood movie . It revolves around her own personal life changes and certain hindrances caused to her through mean pranks on her film set . The main guy is her tutor who helps her out with studies cause her dad doesn’t want them to be interrupted plus he also helps in finding out who is sabotaging her name & also with coming to terms with changes in her personal life.

3.One In A Million By Lindsey Kelk

Just talking about this book makes my heart swell. It’s a total opposites attract romance in one which from the moment they meet you can feel something kindling through the pages ( I consider this to be the best feeling ever when it comes to a book) . In this book the main girl has her own up coming startup of online marketing. In a bet with a few friends she is told to make the first person entering the restaurant an Instagram star within a month . The first guy who enters is a total nerd & introvert involved in writing books about the past king & queens. Its nice to see how he tries to avert the main girl but how slowly they become each others friends and so much more.

4.Forever Right Now By Emma Scot

This book was soooo good. So I have just recently started liking the single dad romance trope and this book has a huge part to play in it. It has so many cute parts in it that I keep on going and rereading them. The main girl is a recovering drug addict trying to go back into her dream of being a dancer and the main guy is a final year law student who ends up with his daughter Olivia when a one night stand goes wrong. So they end up becoming neighbors , good friends and also go through a tough phase together when Olivia’s grandparents try to take her away from the main guy . The book is extremely well written , super emotional and I have reread its last few chapters a billion times till now because they have captured human emotions so beautifully depicting how families our made by love and not by sharing the same blood.

5. Every Last Word By Tamara Ireland Stone

EveryLastWord_LowRes

This book blew me off with its plotline. It follows a popular girl Sam who is going through Purely-Obsessional OCD . Who is scared of sharing this with her best friends because she has this feeling that the moment she will stop being perfect they would turn their back on her. It talks about toxic friendship . And then enters Caroline who introduces Sam to Poets Corner ( a secret group ) . So I am not too much into poetry but I have to say the way author included this aspect into the storyline was absolutely perfect with Dead Poet Society vibes. The main guy is A.J . So Sam had been one of his bully back in middle-school when he was going through stutter. So it is definitely one of those book too which dealt pretty well with the former bully romance trope. What I liked about it was that how well developed and multi dimensional the characters were and it particularly makes you realise how important it is to understand mental heath issues. Its a very emotional book talking about toxic friendships , mental health , swoony relationship, family all together.

6. The Start Of Me & You By Emery Lord

22429350

This book I read a few years back so my memory is kinda hazy but I still remember it made me feel really mushy things. It revolves around a girl who’s first boyfriend dies a year or so before which internally starts making her feel broken . So slowly she decides to come out of her shell and develops a crush on the hot guy in the class but as life would have it ends up falling for Max the nerd cousin of the hot guy who becomes her partner in the quiz club. Can I just say Max is a mixture of nerdiness & hotness . He was a actually a fan of Pride and Prejudice which made me a fan of him. (Can you even believe that 😍😍). The part 2 of the book – The Map From Here to there – is releasing in 2020.

7. The Last Best Kiss By Claire Lazebnik

18602796

Claire Lazebnik has a whole series of books which are present day adaptations of Jane Austen’s book adaptations. This one is an adaptation of Persuasion. The main couple meet in 9 th grade but due to the girls insecurities never make their relationship public and a disaster in the prom breaks them and the guy ends up moving . Then they meet again in 12 th grade where both their emotions are all over the place . And the main guys nerdiness which made him not so cool in 9 th grade ends up making him the coolest guy in 12 th grade being added instantly to the cool gang (the main girl is already a part of it ). Its also a coming of age book cause you slowly understand why the girl did what she did and how she ends up accepting her dysfunctional family and becomes more confident about herself . It’s a mixture of jealousy , Love, broken families , forgiveness & friendship.

8. American Panda by Gloria Choa

I just got to read this book a week back . And I could finally understand the hype around it. It follows Mei a 17 year old Taiwanese American nerd doing pre-med in MIT who goes through series of emotional conflicts with her parents related to what she wants to become in the future (definitely not a doctor cause she has a phobia related to germs) , who she is supposed to marry ( definitely not the cute Japanese guys in college) , why she cant talk to her brother just because he is in a relationship with a girl who cant get pregnant . The book is made up of various dimension and layers with the most special and turbulent relationship being between Mei and her mom. This book taught me one thing – chase your dreams even if those who love you the most don’t support it cause your happiness is what matters the most.

In the beginning, I was scrolling through just to see if I had read any of the books, but nope hahaha I am so behind on everything, but then cute contemporary books were never my strong suit. Although I have to admit soft nerdy boys are the best. I also spotted a Kasie West book and she is usually very good at writing those.
    Great post!
