Always Never Yours |Book Review| Favourite YA Contemporary Novel Of This Year|

Authors : Emily Wibberley And Austin Siegemund-Broka

Publisher : Penguin Teen

Summary(From Goodreads) :
Megan Harper is the girl before. All her exes find their one true love right after dating her. It’s not a curse or anything, it’s just the way things are, and Megan refuses to waste time feeling sorry for herself. Instead, she focuses on pursuing her next fling, directing theatre, and fulfilling her dream school’s acting requirement in the smallest role possible.

But her plans quickly crumble when she’s cast as none other than Juliet–yes, that Juliet–in her high school’s production. It’s a nightmare. No–a disaster. Megan’s not an actress and she’s certainly not a Juliet. Then she meets Owen Okita, an aspiring playwright who agrees to help Megan catch the eye of a sexy stagehand in exchange for help writing his new script.

Between rehearsals and contending with her divided family, Megan begins to notice Owen–thoughtful, unconventional, and utterly unlike her exes, and wonders: shouldn’t a girl get to play the lead in her own love story?

My Review :

This book deserves all the stars in the world. It was absolutely absolutely amazing . (On purpose I repeated the words)

This book made me cry so much. Especially because of the hurt she felt because of her parents divorce. And then her dad starts a new family and she is scared that no one loves her. This actually made me realise that many a times as I have read in a few books , the step parents try their hearts out to connect to the kid , and its the parents at fault who don’t try to understand their kids hurt . Making their kids feel unwanted.

Next coming to Owen , the boy who stole mine and the MCs heart.❤ I like their character development. How they start off as friends . How the main girl tells him every thing about her past relationships . How before the crush/liking/romance there was a development of friendship . This is my favourite YA trope.And they make a perfect ccouple . He a play writer and she a play director.

And those drama classes were fabulous. Especially trying to understand Shakespeare. And what went on in the minds of Romeo and Juliet. For a moment this book makes you respect Juliet for the strong choices she made in her life when she was just ranging between 13-16.

And this book taught me another thing. Which is – once a cheater , always a cheater.

There is a dynamic between the main girl , her best friend , and her ex boyfriend which the authors have dwelled upon beautifully. !

Please read this book. Its absolutely amazing . It made me feel so good. So hopeful . Its one of the best Young Adult Contemporary books out there.! The story is really captivating. Whenever Megan was in distress due to her family life , a fight which erupts with her best friend and the endless number of guys she ends up dating who all made her feel like shit all I wanted to do was go and hug her. I have honestly speaking never felt that for a bookish character , but I honestly wanted to go and hug the hell out of her and tell her everything will be alright.

And above all she is a really strong character. I really liked that even after all the drama was erupting around her she still had a strong focus on not only playing Juliet but also following her dream of becoming a director of plays.!

For me the ending of the book was not just a happy for now but and amazingly written happily ever after.! It’s a book which Does not loose its streak. It begins with a high , with a tear jerking climax and ends at a high.!

And you know what else I loved about Megan , it was that she was a good soul. She doesn’t hate her step mom because she knows how much she loves her dad. She doesn’t hate her best friend dating her ex boyfriend because she is happy that someone between them found love. I felt that it was really selfless, which made me fall in love more deeply with Megan’s character.

I believe I should stop here. Because I would otherwise keep on rambling how awesome sauce this book is .
